Question Forged Parts/BulletProof Engine

What parts you need to change on a engine to make it suitable for forced induction? Heated debate with a few friends on this matter. I would like to see an answer on this from you guys.

I say forged internals.

They want a list.

Can you guys list what forged internals are necessary?

Thanx.

I agree forged internals. Peticularly a forged rotating group.

Forged Pistons (low compression)
Forged Connecting Rods
Forged Crankshaft

Other parts I recommend for a forced induction engine would be

Cam (I think big tex is the guy you want to talk to on that, could be another name though)
High flow fuel pump
Radiatior
Ceramic Coated Headers

That's all I can think of for now, I'll sleep on it and post more tomorrow if I think of anything new.

Oh yeah, I don't think you would have to worry about the motor being bulletproof. I would worry about the trans., damn 4L60Es. better put a 4L80E on the "bulletproof" list!

All you need for a bullet proof engine is rod bolts and head studs. The engine its self is strong enough to handle 14.5psi of boost AND a 100 shot. How much more strength could you want? Also LS series engines come with powder forged rods stock.

The weakest link is the trany.

I was going to say .... Parish and his monster of a truck is running on a relatively stock motor. He has only done ARP rod bolts and head studs as far as strengthening the engine up. I don't know of many guys who are running forged motors in trucks.

Maybe one day I will get to build a forged motor, rods and pistons anyways, and see what I can throw at it.

with what i am doing i would not call the motor bullit proof, i am amazed it is holding together. if your shooting for ~10psi and 12's then i wouldn't do anything at all to the motor, spend your money on geting the tune correct.

if you want to push it harder than that and are the type of person to fix it before it breaks then a forged everything set up with head studs would be the way to go.

What if your totaly nuts and want a nine second daily driver truck? Build a forged 408, slap on a T-76, spray it a little, and throw in a 4L80E.
Wait a minute, that plan sounds familuar. lol.

Have you decided where to put the parachute? haha
