looking for a supercharger, what is the best bang for the buck out there? I plan on adding a transgo kit first will the 4l60e be able to pick up the added power with just a kit or am I headed down **** creek. Ive done basic exhaust, nelson tune and intake.
1. what supercharger should I go with
2. will the tranny be able to cope
3. should I bother with a higher stall after the super
I want some freakin torque damnit

The most complete kit is the Radix. The cheapest is the Powerdyne, the most expensive is Vortech. Everyone has there own opinions.
But one thing we can all agree on is that the 4l60e does not play well with torque.

1. That question has more answers than is practical to post. What is your budget and where in the RPM range do you want the power?
2. No.
3. Not needed with roots or twin screw, needed for centrifugal.
You might consider doing some archival research on this subject. EVERYTHING you could want to know about superchargers, turbochargers, nitrous oxide, and transmissions has already been posted here many times.

Oh ya… I didnt notice that. Not to be a smart *** but I see that you are new. Welcome to the site. Just to warn you it is addictive.
The best keep secret of ls1tech, and dont let this get around too much, it the search button. This site has been around for years, anything you want to know about a general topic has already be discussed. Explore the search button and you will find LOTS about superchargers

Ive been looking at superchargers on the internet Its going to take me sometime to save the money I bieleve in purchasing something that is worth the money I dont need the best but I dont want the worst either. If one supercharger gives alot more tq/hp than any other obviously I would give that alot more consideration than something that only offers mediocre gains.
1 im looking for the most gains for the money what are yalls thoughts
My 02 with 31k has some knock when its cold or when it first starts up I cant tell whether its piston slap or valves. Ive heard alot of people have this problem, any recommendations. I dont want to build on an engine thats not going to hold out.

First the Cold Start Knock: Don't worry, your engine is fine. Many late model GM engines do this, and several have accumulated over 100K miles with no problem. Just seems to be the nature of the beast, ignore it.
As to the supercharger, it all boils down to what you want. If you want to climb mountain passes, tow things, or are just longing for that old-fashioned torquey "big engine" feel, then either the twin screw (Whipple, Kenne-Bell) or the Roots style (Magnusson) are a good choice. The twin screws are theoretically better. But Magnusson (Radix, roots style) seems to have more satisfied customers due to a better implementation of the "obsolete" technology.
ON THE OTHER HAND, if you are looking for low ET's at the dragstrip, these units will give too much low end torque (read wheel spin) and don't give as much top end boost as the centrifugal units (Vortech, Paxton, etc.). These give superior performance at engine speeds above 3000 rpm, but little or nothing below that, which means they don't do anything for regular street driving.
As for the 4L60E, several of us (including myself) have done no mods, ad the transmission seems to hold up fine. OTOH, if you are going to do a lot of high-acceleration driving, either a beef-up or replacement would be a good idea.
Just my 2 cents.
