FLP recommended a PI converter..

i can agree, i'd go with the PI over yank by far. what they recomend isn't what you have to go with either so they can build it to have a bit more stall without a problem. they are also concerned a bit with heat i'm sure and tcc life. the higher the stall the more the slip the clutch has to take away when it's applied. between complaints on here and silveradoss.com about yank, i wouldn't give them any business.

Multi- Disc 3 plate

Multi- Disc 5 plate

This is straight from the PI website.. Looks as though you just choose a stall, huh? Wonder what the differences are between the 3-disk and the 5-disk.

last time i called them for one, they recomended a 3 disc 10 1/2 inch converter made for trucks with the same stall options, but isn't listed yet on the website. hoping to install that one soon.....

934.42+ shipping. on the other hand if chuck is a dealer i think he'll get it much cheaper so i'm not sure what he'd charge. the price is because of the extra build of the converter. comparing to the yank, it's way overbuilt.

i am going with a that same converter. PI was strongly recomended by everyone i know. the local tranny guy, chuck at flp, seth formaly at cmotorsports, and a few other local people i hang out with. out in the rest of the world Yank isn't very well known.
i have a post in the tranny section that sums up my dealings with yank, you can go look it up if you feel like it. if you go with a PI converter and you dont like it all you have to do is call them(they will actualy answer the phone) and tell them what you dont like and they will attempt to fix it(restall). they wont argue with you or look for blame. my local tranny guy told me they have gone as far as telling him they just messed up and send it back to be restalled. i think geting the stall correct is mainly trial and error and without experience with your exact aplication they will just be guessing. what is cool is that they will adjust it for you if you dont like it.

Yea guys... This story is getting more and more convincing. I think I am leaning toward the PI for sure.
Now I just gotta figure out how to get the new tranny to Alaska and how to get a core back to Chuck at FLP. The initial shipping quote came in at $400 one way... I have a couple of emails into salvage yards near IL that have 4l60E's for less than $500.
Anybody have other thoughts? Parish.. that cutout is HUGE!
