Question Flow-Master exhaust Q's

I have heard that flow-master exhaust is very restrictive when it comes to smooth flowing, is the true? and what is a good way to fix this problem without replacing my brand new exhaust?

If you have cats, cut them off! Also maybe some headers!

Well if you compare flow numbers of a Flowmaster to a Magnaflow or Dynomax hell, just try to look through them...you'll see the differences.

I do agree high flow cats will help a lot too if you still have them/are required to have them.

I had a flowmaster and it sounded really nice. I was happy as far as sound goes. But 2 years later and my exhaust is lookn ugly ....

Oxidizr hooked me up with a Magnaflow exhaust system and to say the least im impressed. Just by looking at the cat-back system I knew the quality was far superior. Sounds wise.. your looking at a more mellow but very distinguished growl. Whereas flowmasters just scream to high heaven... my little 4.8 and a delta 40 series was friggn loud.

I've had flowmaster for 3 years on one truck, with a lot of miles, and it still does well. The power gain is significant, but the sound is spectacular.

I installed a flowmaster on my 96 chevy 350 vortec ecsb a few weeks after I got it June 96, and it picked up almost .5 tens in the 1/4 mile, it was still on when I sold it in Dec. 03 with 140,000+ miles and still sounded great! As far as performance we were dynoing a 632ci bbc for a N/Pro Street car last weekend that made 1297hp, when we put the Flowmaster exh. off the car, on the dyno it only lost 12hp!
