just wondering if any one with the 8.1l/ally combo has used the Flexalite 290 fans, I want to add them but need to know if the will fit. The allison pcm that bolts to the rear of the radiator looks like it will be in the way.

 

Wouldn't the 282 fans work? I've never looked under the hood of an 8.1L. Got any pictures?

THE ALLISON PCM IS THAT BIG RED BOX AT THE END OF THE FAN SHROUD

 

If you have a 34" radiator, the 282's are what you want.

292's fit 28" radiators.

Edit: Check the site or email them.....with that Allison pcm that close, it's a toss up.

 

Well, with the PCM being right there, I can see why you are worried. FAL's application guide does say 290 for the 8.1L

I have yet to see a posting with someone installing one of these into an 8.1 truck. But, somebody might have.

Since, the application guide does say to use #290, then I would say "Yes" it will fit. The fans and shroud of the #290 and #282 look basically the same and since the #290 is a universal kit, obviously it is all about the mounting of the fans.

FAL does have the installation instructions (along with pics of the brackets) on their website - if you haven't already looked at it.
