I got that in an email that envolved questions about that very subject. I won't comment on who it was to, but I will tell you it was only a week or so ago.

I have tested the "safe" version of the 'in-truck' Edit programmer. This is "safe" because it does not actually reprogram the PCM, it just goes through all of the data transfer steps without changing anything.
They seem to be still having trouble dealing with the communications over the data bus. Looks like pulling some fuses will be necessary for 'in-truck' to work...
Other than the expense/effort needed to get a bench cable, I don't find it too much of a problem to hook directly to the PCM under the hood. Actually, I think its safer that way because there is less chance of computer glitches messing up the tune. BTW, I have flashed my PCM over 40 times with no problems using the bench cable under the hood.

I just got my EDIT cable back today. I reflashed my PCM with a torque managementless flash file and so far ... it seems nice. It's to wet outside to really get a feel for it. I was looking at some logs though and don't see anymore timing drops to -10 in the shift, but I want to recheck it when the roads are a little better/safer to play on.
I haven't adjusted anything except for getting rid of TQM so far.
