Default Finally got some Numbers

I got a chance to get the truck on the Dyno today and Rick at Synergy worked out the bugs on the tune and this thing is finally running like an animal.

We tried to up to 9 psi, but we were actually maxing out the maf. Overall, i'd say the final tune gained about a good 60 hp to the wheels today.

Running 11* of timing when boost comes in and 15* at high boost on 91 octane.

Boost is now comes on much more constant and it smokes the tires from a roll like its nothing.

here are the numbers that the truck put out on the best run of the day.... This was actually one of the earlier runs, since the turbo was getting WAY hot at the end of the session, numbers could have been even better.

the mustang dyno takes about 15% off the total hp/tq numbers from the load over a Dynojet or conventional dynamometer... so I'm probably seening somewhere in the ballpark of ~375 rwhp/400rwtq @ 8 psi

Chris, you're #s are pretty good but can definately be better. Rick called me today and we talked about your rig.

He said that your boost builds slowly, almost centrifugal blower style. That is kind of odd. It should build a few pounds slowly but then rocket to full boost exponentially. He said yours goes slow, almost like you can count it 1psi at a time. Mine always hits about 3-5psi kinda slow but once it hits about 6 the needle blurs to 13+psi super fast and it's time to hold onto the wheel. So I know he wants to try and figure out why yours isn't doing this. I told him I htink it may be due to a couple factors but mainly that the turbo is a bit big for your setup and you might not have the CFM out the exhaust to spool it efficiently. You are also running cats, you don't have a cam so it's not going to be directly comparable to mine.

The other thing that was obvious is that you are running a 99' PCM. I thought you had to physically swap out the PCM itself to a new year, not just tune it? I know Jerry2500 had PCM issues and he said after the PCM swap the truck was much different. Have you looked into that? The amount of KR you guys were seeing is really holding you back.

I'm not saying anything bad about your setup bro. In actuality I think you're doing great so far and I'm just saying you have more potential and to let others know that you've just tapped the keg on your combo.

Ohh BTW, what is the actual name of the color of your truck? My 02' Silverado looks like the exact same color.

You're totally gonna hate me too because my Stingray IIIs just came in and once I get the truck from the dealer I'm ripping the Chevy body molding off and putting GMC molding on it. LOL

I couldn't have explained it better.... it's kinda like you have driven my truck to explain it that well. The boost comes on well, but rather slow unless you floor it like you want it all to come loose. The roll on boost's are sooooo insane and power full(no RMP change or shifts, but massive boost and more MPH) It it set up very well right now for everything i have going on, so I'm pretty pleased. I need a stall and shift kit... but maybe just a whole tranny to go Big-time. we'll see what happens. I have no more $$$ and other things to focus on like School instead, so we'll see if i can accomplish my goals as far as the truck goes.

BTW--- my truck is Pewter metalic. and what rims did you get??? stingrays? what size?

O yeah... about the PCM.. i mentioned that to Rick. We were maxing out the Maf at only 9 psi, which I thought was rather odd. We didnt see much knock until midway through, seeing false knock, but It was all gathered out with the tuning. I see nothing really wrong with the 99 Pcm so far... maybe swapping is just a potential gain..?!

I bought the Stingray IIIs in a 20x8". They were only $1200 shipped to my shop with Goodyears so I couldn't beat the price. I just wanted something that looked beter than stock and was cheap

I keep forgetting you don't even have a converter yet! You're gonna be all over the road once you get one. LOL

Chris,

I thought Jerry had issues with his PCM and had to swap the actual hardware to get the gains he got. Or was that someone else. I thought that the PCM issues people had with the 99's was the hardware, not the tune. As in you couldn't tune the problem out, you had to physically use a different year PCM? Am I totally off base on that? Please clear it up for me.
