The aluminum 6.2 has no cam. An additional cost to factor in. Hypothetically speaking, what "stoch-ish" cam could I use with keeping my stock fuel system and stock converter?

You will have to get an adapter to mount your 3 bolt cable throttle body onto the 4 bolt Ls3 intake opening.

If it is in fact a 6.2 engine I think there may be a bit more work required in swapping it than I initially thought. The regular truck 6.0 engine would be a more straight foward swap if you can find one of those. Otherwise I think I would go with the stock Ls1 from those choices.

Personally, I would avoid an aluminum 6.0 bored out .050". GM only recommends a .020" max overbore on the LS2. I've seen lots of people that have done .030" (although that seems like a little bit too much in my opinion). At .050" the cylinder sleeves have got to be paper thin. I'm assuming the block has not been resleeved.

i dont want any more issues than i already have. after looking around for a cam, intake manifold, ect, it would be more cost effective like previously suggested, for me to go with the 2000$ "20k" mile ls1. i was looking at it, and i see a 3 bolt TB on it. looks to be drive by wire. am i going to have issues mating that TB to my stock harness ?

i know im all over the place with this swap so far, as much as i would live a big healthy motor, the transmission, converter, fuel system just isnt in the cards yet. if someone can point me to an appropriate thread with ls1 swap info, id appreciate it.

I thought most LS1 motors had cable TBs. Not sure about the Vettes though. If this is going in a truck and you want to use a DBW TB, I would use the truck intake or get a TBSS intake. The LS6 intake on the later LS1 motors is a good intake, but the LS1 intake used on the early versions sucked.

So I have an acquaintance that has an ls6 laying around with 243 heads. 70k motor, with everything but an intake manifold. If my research was correct, my stock intake will with those heads. What else would need to be changed for my application? It has a stock, ls6 cam. Will my current injectors suffice with a re tune? How about the harness ? Compatible?

You should be able to swap all your truck accessories along with your truck intake and throttle body which means your harness stays as is and you just get a computer tune for the new engine.

Your truck injectors may work but you will be maxed out most likely. On my dads Ls1 he ran his stock 4.8 injectors for about 5 months before we put 8.1 truck injectors on to get back up past stock size (28.5 lb/hr for the Ls6 I believe, your stock truck injectors are 24 lb/hr) but he does not drive the truck hard at all. I would recommend going with some 8.1 truck injectors (31 lb/hr) or 8.1 marine injectors (42 lb/hr) if you can swing it to give you some room to grow in the future. Both will bolt right up to your truck intake/fuel rails and plug into your stock harness.
