a few cam questions

Default a few cam questions

i have a stock 5.3 in my truck with just bolt ons but i orderd a 218/224 551 cam and beehive valve springs and a 3k stall for my truck and i have been told that i will need diff push rods and rocker arms is that true? and will i need anything other than what i have to do the swap?

Im not sure if rods are NECESSARY.. but its a good idea. Im doing rods, springs, lifters and a stall in mine when I put in my 221/221. Rocker arms Im pretty sure u dont need to worry about unless ones screwed over

I wouldn't worry about the rockers. you will need the misc gaskets. Look at the ls1tech cam swap guide, it pretty much covers everything.

ok thanks alot guys so it would be a good idea to do pushrods anyone know what ones i need?

i got comp 7.4 pushrods along with most of the people on here..you got your exhaust on yet?? danny told me you was going to ed wright for a tune..ive had to fix one of his tunes before on a procharged vette..if you want some place possibly closer to ya i used to work at a dyno shop in hennessey and if you would want to go down there i could go tune it

my dad and I were just talking today and Im doin a lot when I swap my cam.. something else a really good idea is the lifters and the timing chain (dependent on mileage) but other than that u should be ready to rock

not yet im just using the headers and im sand blasting and painting them saturday and im going to run true duals with magnaflows and yes i talked to him today about tuning mine im running short on money at the moment so as soon as i can get money for push rods and get my stall i will start putting every thing on and im going to keep danny informed on everything
