Default The famous head work vs cam swap options

I have a new project under way and hope to have completed by summer next year.

I want to take my 2008 5.3 and either:

have the heads decked, CNC ported.
Leave the 220/224 cam

Or

Add 2.1" stainless intake and 1.6" stainless exhaust valves with the ports cleaned up a little
leave the 220/224 cam

Or

Leave the heads alone, add a 220/220 112 or a 222/226 111+4 cam

The project is a SCSB s10 with a 5.3 (above options) I will be sending my converter back to Chris @ Circle D to see about getting it to brake stall 3400ish. I will be on DRs, traction aid of either a set of Cal tracs or Ladder bars with QA1s. I am boxing the frame in and have a X support welded in with a driveshaft safety loop. I want to stay on highway gears as the truck will be a DD/Track toy.

Goal i have set is a 12.3x pass at whatever mph it does on motor. I will then add a 125 shot to try and get kicked out of both tracks (NPR and SCR) no i will not put a roll cage as i want it as stock looking as possible.

Any input, ideas are welcome.

Heads decked and ported! Great head work will outweigh any cam swap imo.

Thats what scooter told me but im wanting some more opinions.

The cheaper the better but the best bang for the buck is what counts for me.

Possible gains of head work 40hp
Cam 10-15hp over what you have now
Head work will out perform a cam any day

I was thinking of running a 222/226 111+4 with a 3200 converter and a set of DRs. Im sure the light truck would be fine with what i have now (220/224 .585.588 113+4) but i like the "chop". I know the "sound" doesnt mean anything if the truck is poo slow with a donkey cam
Im not looking for a dyno queen, just want a 12.3ish pass on motor and the 125 shot will take care of the 11 sec pass
