Default exhuast question

Will I see any gains replacing the stock muffler with a perfomance muffler? If so, what muffler would give the best gains?

With just a muffler replacement, you may get 5-8 rwhp. There are a lot of catback systems out there right now that will give better results. LG Motorsports has a Corsa GP going on now. If you are just interested in a muffler, most of us with shop built systems run Flowmasters and Magnaflow. Flowmasters have a 40 (loud) through 70(quiet) series mufflers and also mke Deltaflow. I have Magnaflows on mine and they are quiet until I get on it. nd best of all, no highway resononce.

i don't really get any hwy resonance with my true dual flow 40s. i get a little when i'm moving at idle but its bearable. and like greg, its not all that loud until i get on it. the sound is a little raspier than i'd like.

I have a V Force 3 inch in dual 2 1/4 out. It is very similar to a Delta Flow 40 series. Since I got rid of the 3 1/2 inch echo tips, it is much quieter inside the truck but I love the sound at WOT.

Flowmaster does NOT offer stainless so Flowmaster will rust out after a few years unless you live in Phoenix.

my setup runs a 3in pipe from the y pipe (welded before the orig. flange) back to a 40 series flowmaster (not the delta flow either, the original) with no dump or turndown.

with 3.42 gears it has some interior resonance but i hardly hear it with the radio at a decent level.

As Greg mentioned, we're running a GP on the Corsa cat-backs. If I'm going to sell it I'm going to try it, so I have one on the way for my truck. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> As soon as it's installed, I will post up. I also plan on snapping a few pics of it installed under the truck. You'll pay a little more for the Corsa cat-back, but it's one of the best systems out there IMO.
