Default Exhaust opinions needed

I have a 2004 8.1 sw longtubes 3" duals to the muffler. The muffler i purchased was suppose to have a X pipe in it instead it just has a 3" single pipe about 7" long. So if you can imagine dual 3"in/out in the middle a single 3" pipe so basically 2 Ys. Do you guys think it will be a bottle neck? Should i send it back or do you think it'll flow good? I was thinking maybe the exhausr gases wld speed up thru that section but i dont know

So it Ys from 2 3" inlets to 1 3"?

I would say it would bottle neck it quite a bit. Rather that translates into any noticeable difference is a separate thing.

Is this a stock 8.1 ? If so I doubt it would hurt it, they don't rev that high and for towing any and all lowend is best. I think a 3.5" would be more appropriate though.

it's dual 3"in----3" dual out but in the middle for a short run for about 6" is single 3" pipe. So basically two Ys backed up into each other.

Sounds to me like its a "x pipe" that is made wrong lol. I would say send it back. In my opinion your 8.1 sould be fine breathing through a 3" exhaust. If it was a free flowing 3"..
