Default Exhaust Idea...

I just got my 2001 Silverado yesterday and am already hating the Dronemaster it has. I think it's a 40 series. Anyways, I would like to get rid of it and get something louder and throatier. I was thinking of just replacing the muffler with a 3" bullet chambered style muffler like a sweet-thunder or something, then running the exhaust right out the side in front of the tire. Anyone done something like this? Any sound clips would be awesome, thanks!

Magnaflow is way too quiet, and Corsa is very expensive... I can stand drone if the truck sounds good and is decently loud. Flowmastes drones, is too quiet, and doesn't sound very good. Sounds like every other truck on the road.

Heres a couple pics of mine with a crude 3" pipe..May give you an idea what it would look like with a pipe sticking out the side..Temporary untill I can afford headers, cutouts and mufflers.

How loud is that? Is there any muffler on it? That's what I'm looking into except a little cleaner and with some actual tips.

if you still have cats it's really not that loud, but everyone has different opinions on loud. It's pretty cheap to do, I personally like bassani mufflers. I have and use to have it on my truck a single 3 inch inlet dual 2.5 outlet with tips welded to the mufler dumped. It's a custom 4x8x12 and let me tell you it sounded bad *** with cats on. not alot of drone, great sound, and super throaty race car like when you hammer it. The muffler is made of 309SS. Also had a side exit on my old VHO with dual maggie resonators and it sounded pretty good for awhile, now they soud like ****. After about 20k miles on them. That's on my cousins truck that I sold him. good luck for whatever your looking for, but magnaflow wasn't loud enough for me either.

here is mine in front of the rear tire. i got a bassani catback also. lovin the sound too. it came with a 5x10x24 inch muffler but i wanted it to be louder so i bought a 4x8x16 muffler to replace the standard muffler. it sounds awsome at idle, especially when i start it up in the morning. no drone at all and when you give even just a little bit of gas, it roars. like BLACK04VHO said, it sounds very racey.
