Default Exhaust Help

Hey guys, I recently changed my whole exhaust setup. I added the pacesetters and y pipe with no cats, ran three inch pipe into a 14 inch case magnaflow straight through 3 inch muffler with a turn down near the axle. Well let me tell you, its loud, smells awful, and when you are driving around that sound just bounces off the ground and bounces right back in the truck. The other day i drove over a drawbridge and noticed that when i hit the metal grated part the sound went away. So here is my thinking. IM gonna add a small magnaflow cat http://www.car-sound.com/catalog/universal/530.aspx before the muffler and have the shop cut the turndown off, and have them reroute it back over the axle and turn it down and out (out of sight) before my rollpan. Do you think this will work?

Is this cat gonna let enough flow go through it? I just want something to build a little more backpressure cause i lost alot of low end, and also clean the air i have to breathe at stop lights.

Yes the cat will add some back to the low end why not just go ahead and get a stall to get those big wheels moving abd get more low end. The exhaust exiting over the rear axle will help out alot there is a big diff between when my cutouts are open or exiting out the back as far as in cab noise. One cat will quiet it down a bit after the cat heats up but it will still be loud when you first start it though.

The truck is loud, and that is fine. I just cant stand the echo from the ground. Its really annoying. Id like to get a stall, but im trying to quit throwing money into this truck. I want to sell it next year and get a crew cab duramax truck. Im just trying to make it liveable for the time being.

Try the different exit first and then if you still dont like it the go with the cat too. BTW when you get rid of you rtruck I want dibs on your brakes.

I'd keep the cat off and just do full exhaust out the rear, it will save you some $ not having to buy a cat and will reduce interior resonance drastically, and if you still dont like it add the cat then.

Im not really adding the cat for the resonance. Im adding it because the smell of the exhaust is horrible now. It like suffocates you if you are sitting still at a light or in a parking lot or something.

May just be the new exhaust every time I redo my exhaust it smells pretty bad for about a week(300miles or so) then its fine. I dont have cats on anymore and the cutouts open and it doesnt smell like you are describing.

Well i thought it was the muffler just getting broken in, but thats not it cause its been well over 300 miles more like 1000 miles since it has been done, not to mention a buddy gave me the muffler after he used it on his truck for about 2 months. Also since i added the pacesetters i have been having major o2 sensor problems. The rears are turned off in my nelson tune, so thats not the problem. But the front drivers side threw a code so i replaced both with new bosch units. SES went away. A few days later came back on so i check the code, not just one code but three now. both sensors are acting up. I thikn i need to get some OEM sensors and hope it goes away.

Well, i got the bosch ones with the oem plug. At first the guy looked up my truck and gave me the wrong ones. So i got the number from my original sensor, and he crossed it, and it was the right one. So i put the new bosch ones in, and the light came on. now i have three codes. I need to go to the dealer and get some real OEM ones i geuss.
