Question Exhaust Cutout Dilemma....

Ok, as of now I'm running LT's into my stock Y with cats back into a single in-dual out Magnaflow muffler that's nearly as quiet as stock. In front of the muffler I have an E-Cutout and I love the thing. I really like the sound of the exhaust when the cutout is open, and there's always time when a quiet truck is good.

The problem lies in the drive to the muffler shop after installing the longtubes to get the headers welded to my cut y-pipe. Good lord I want to be able to start the truck and have people jump again As of now with the cats and the cutout open, it's really not all that loud, but it does sound good.

My dilemma, I guess, is I'm scared of messin up a "good" sounding truck by taking off the cats to get two more cutouts after the headers in the y-pipe for those rare occasions when I want REAL loud.
Would welding a single cat a few feet in front of the muffler kind've acting as a resonator be dumb? I'm not doing this for a performance increase, but I REALLY don't wanna lose anything. Would a single cat down the exhaust be a restriction? I just don't want rasp, and would like to have the option of being somewhat quiet, but I know that taking off the cats will definitely make it louder.

I THINK oxidizr is running three cutouts as well, so I'm not THAT crazy...

Ive thought of this as well. I was thinking of having a bullet welded in if removing the cats made it too loud. Im not going to try it until some other things are done though.

What size magnaflows are you running? I'm running Long tubes and my cutouts are right out the headers. I removed the cats, and have a magnaflow xpipe before my two magnaflow mufflers. I have the smallest magnaflows(loudest) and it is still a sweet sounding setup. At cruising speed, you can't really tell I have no cats. Conversations are at a level tone. The only time its "loud" is when I'm ***** to the wall. Everyone comments on how mean the truck sounds anyway.

I wouldn't stick the cutouts after the headers. I'd remove the cats, then put in a good flowing Y or X and put the cutouts after this point. Then you gain the exhaust scavaging benefits of an X or Y. Put a cutout after this point if you want loud. At least you'd still be performing well and have the sound you'd want. A single cat afterwards wouldn't be too bad, cut could be more restrictive than the 2 stockers combined.

I'm just running one, I wanna say 18'? single in-dual out dumped after the rear axle. I know it's one of the larger mufflers they offer. It's still basically the stock exhaust except for the headers, muffler and cutout.
