Exhaust build on a crew cab
#1
Looking for some input on an exhaust. My 04 is a tvs 2300 topped forged 370 and I am in the middle of building an exhaust. My concern isn't as much quiet as reasonable in the cab of the truck to drive. It's long tubes with 3" duals... never will be "quiet" per say but I just don't want drone. I like Borla.. they even make these larger truck mufflers (400500 and 400436) but there is no useful sound clips of them. See lots run the XR1's but whether you want ear plugs in the cab is another story. Tail pipes will exit out the rear of the truck and will be x pipe equippped so it's not going to be dumped or something silly. I hate even asking but even opinion only on interior drone is welcome. Thanks.

Yeah no Corsa... sounding like the 3 cylinder Yanmar in my garden tractor isn't a plus. Anything but them truthfully lol. If the solution sounds like straight pipes I may as well skip the mufflers at thst point lol.

Are you using cats? Cats will definitely help with drone as well as the overall sound.
Check out Magnaflow 12599. Its a 22" long 5" x 11" muffler di/do 3" straight through design with built in x-pipe. I know you have one already.
I'll be doing this with my Tahoe. Speed LTs, Maggy spun cats, Speeds 3" duals, Maggy 12599 and my own tail pipes out the back.

No cats will be used on the truck. I am trying to avoid the resonance tubes under there if I can being the lack of space with the piping the size it is. I am guessing this will be just a trial and error on my part more or less lol

Well, that muffler I recommended is the largest Magnaflow has, 22"x11"x5" pretty big hah.
Like you, I don't want any drone at all. I ran there 14568 2.5" di/do muffler on my previous Tahoe with zero drone but I also had the same spun cats. Since I have the emissions, I need them and honestly don't mind them since they do help with the noise level a little. I'm hoping for the same results on my 07.
Good luck with what ever you do.

Yeah my big thing is drone haha. I might dynamat the back of the trucks cab to help with the noise too...... I don't want to mess with cats... being blown, running methanol and whatnot.. they are just going to melt lol. They may not actually be an issue but emissions is non existent and not illegal to remove in Alberta so I am not overly concerned running without them. I was looking at the big Magnaflows too but guys seem to complain about drone with Magnaflow a little more so i might shy away. I see a guy just posted his setup with dual 3" XR1's ( don't know the part number he chose though) and he says no drone. Another is Black Widow... seems to have people saying they have no drone either. Oh the choices lol.
