exhaust ?
#1
I am in the process of having new exhaust installed on my 2000 ecsb with a 6.0 and supercharger. I have AEM Bruteforce long tube headers(2 1/2" collector). Was wondering what size tubing to run to keep it quiet with a rumble. I was looking into a Thunderbolt crossover X pipe after the headers to help keep the cylinders on the engine equal on both sides. No cats either. For a muffler I was looking into a Dynomax Ultra-Flo x . My question I guess is wether to go with 2 1/2" or should I step up to the 3" ??? Which will keep it quiet with a rumble? Thanks

i would say to run something like a 2.5" dual into an x up front as far as you can, and do 2 separate mufflers, something like a pair of magnaflow 5x8x24 inch case or bigger, would flow plenty being straight through and with the long mufflers will be quiet in the cab, but with a decent growl at wot. and in my past experiences running a bigger muffler diameter inlet/outlet on smaller pipe only makes a more boomy resonant sound with lots of in cab resonance. i like dumps right after the mufflers but you could run it out the side or all the way back, its supposed to be quieter that way.

If i were you, i would run 3" off the collector into the Xpipe, then 2.5 after the xpipe... The 2 different sizes of exhaust should help the rasp and also help flow... Since the exhaust is HOTTER in closer to the collector, and hotter gas means less dense, meaning bigger.... So it will have more room to flow.. If you plan on going this route use some nice transitions like the ones i used off my AEN headers.. I cut off the 3 bolt flange and welded on a 2.5-> 3.0 transition, then Vband flange.
