The Marine Intake fully delivered its promise of fueling modified L31 Vortec engines. This intake is everything anyone with one of these trucks could want. Even all the aftermarket induction stuff, superchargers included, will bolt right up to it because its throttle body location and bolt pattern are identical to stock. It will take whatever injectors you want. With that manifold in place the only obstacle left is the PCM. It won't power a Vortec engine past 5800 RPM no matter how programmed. There is some limitation in the stock PCM that cannot cope with greater RPM. Really, 5800RPM is sufficient for most of our needs.
The rod bearings got so hot they reverted to powder. Welding is one thing but these turned back into dirt!

Man thats crazy, but pretty cool to see all that stuff. How come you didnt go with the ZZ383? That appears to be the more performance oriented engine. Are you keeping your Edelbrock heads and the same cam?
I can't wait to see the beast when its done!

I just bought the shortblock. The ZZ383 is the shortblock with cam, heads, intake, and valvetrain on it.
The Cam going in is a Crower 00401LM, driven by a GMPP single-roller timing set. I had this cam in my stock 350 for a period of time. Back then though there was no way for me to tune this myself and I'm not a fan of the mail-order tuning scene. I took it out because it was too annoying on startup with RPM fluctuation until it went into closed loop. ( I can tune it now myself.)
The heads going on are the same Edelbrock E-Tec 200's I've been running. These heads have proved to be great performance parts. They have the largest valves and ports you can get in a non-"D"-shaped exhaust ported Vortec head.
New Cometic head gaskets will seal them, Comp Cam hardened pushrods, Non self-aligning Crane 1.6:1 roller rockers over guideplates will complete the valvetrain.
On top will be the Marine Manifold with 36# injectors. The regulator on the Marine rail is 4-Bar, that's 58psi. The injectors work out to about 41.5lbs/hr. at that pressure. That will be enough for this engine with the 1.6L Whipple but probably will not support it with a larger 2.3L Whipple and more boost.
