Lots of people run the T-56 in their trucks (and I hope to soon). And with the 4:56 gears that make it work best, it should tow just fine. A T-56 Magnum, or Viper/modified box will probably work better if you're towing really heavy, but most anything that you would normally tow with a 1/2T truck should be fine (boat, medium car on trailer, small camping trailer, 3-4 quads).

Hes most likely referring to the older lightnings that didn't have a super charger. Even then it's a stretch lol

so i found a couple 5.3 for fairly pretty cheap but all the 6.0 i've looked at were 3x the price of the 5.3's so i have a few questions for you guys.

my goals for this motor is high 300's low 400's for hp numbers with say 80 to 90% of torque available in the 2000 to 2500 rpm range.

first question- i did a pretty decent job at porting and polishing my jeep's stroker motor(4.6L straight 6) so how big of a difference will gasket matching and clean up do on these ls motors? jeep motor are notorious for not breathing very well so anything helps them but from what i understand ls motors were designed around good flow. the 5.3's i've been looking at all have 706's and was wondering if it was worth it to get a set of 6.0 heads and pnp them instead of the 706's?

i see most people are swapping in tbss intakes or nnbs intakes. what would be the best intake for a truck that gets used for alot of towing? the 5.3 i'm looking at has a cracked intake so it has to get replaced anyways

does anybody have any desktop dyno 5 flow files for intake and heads?

still debating on what tranny to use but if i stay with the auto what would be a good stall speed for what i want to do?

stock injectors are what 26lb? i'm guessing for what i'm wanting i'll need somewhere in the 30lb range?

Go with a 6.2l. Better milage and more power. Afm is a joke. You wont get better milage unless you live were its all flat and it burns oil in the down cylinders if it stays in 4 mode more the a second.

If the price of the 6.0 scares him off, I really don't see him coughing up the money for the 6.2. I also don't see him utilizing AFM on a 5.3 retrofit, so that's a moot point.

Go with (what I think is) the best of both worlds. Buy the 5.3 and put a 4" stroker crank in it. If you bore it out to 3.905 (LS1 bore) you end up with a 383. With a mild cam (220-224) and good heads youre easily into the hi 400s in both torque and HP and still get pretty good mileage. Oh and its 6.2L too...

6.0 heads on a 5.3 would kill compression.

I've read a few threads where the nnbs/tbss intake hurt low end on a LM7 with stock heads.

Imo, a fbo, stock cammed lq4 is going to give you what you want. And would be cheaper than camming a LM7. Even though they are half the price of a lq4.

If I was going to tow with a higher stall converter; I'd run around a 2800 triple disk.
