I have a 2001 rcsb Silverado with the 4.3 i want to do a swap to a 6.0 I came to you guys because i know that yall can help me out. I need to know what all i will need to perform this swap. i know i need motor mounts, engine, computer, wiring harness and a new tranny because the stock 4l60e wont make it long. i will possibly go with the 4l80e i can get one fairly cheap i know i will have to do some modifications to make this work but i am up to it. Most people will say go buy a truck with an 8 in it then do a bigger swap but that is really not in the picture for me i am determined to do this swap. ANY AND ALL INFO IS APPRECIATED thanks again.

I don't really think a 4L60E would have a problem with the 6.0L, it makes less power than an LS1 and F-bods still have 4L60Es.
A 4L80E isn't a bad choice though. What you loose in overdrive and 1st you make up for with strength.
as far as the transmission, i recommend keeping the stocker and probably building it up a little bit.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, thanks for the replys anyone know if i am missing any other parts for the swap?
I agree, i dont think the 4l60e will hold up long. A built 4l60e can get expensive i think a stock 80e with a shift kit will get the job done after i get the swap completed im going to get a magnacharger unit and put on the 6.0
i am also looking for an lq4 because of the lower compression which will make it a better candidate for boost but 1st things first i need to get that 4.3 out and that 6.0 in.
Anymore info or thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks.

I personally think you should grab a nice 4L65E and have a clean swap. nice and easy. Lighter. Doesn't suck down power. Doesn't kill gas milage as much. More desireable gear ratio.
While the 80 is a beast, I dont think its for everyone. I'll go to an 80 when a 65 cant hold me reliably.

I hate the huge rpm drop between 1st and 2nd gears of the 60/65/70e trans, the 80e has the same gears as the th400 did which is very similar to the gears of the th350. Camaro guys are dropping their 1/4 mile times by 4 tenths with a 700/4l60e swap to the th 350. Sure the 1st gear isnt as short, but there is much less rpm drop. Even with its greater ineffeciency than the 60/65/70, I would take an 80e any day of the week.
With an 80e you have better traction in 1st, its easier to launch at WOT than a 60e. The 80e will load a turbo more, and you can use a higherstall converter with the 80e and still hook, the 2.48 1st gear slows you a bit out of the hole but the nastyier converter helps you downtrack. Whereas with the 60e, you cant use as an agressive converter in order to hook up, which also hurts you down track as well because the lower stall converter has more rpm drop at the shifts.
I would love to do a 4l80e swap in my truck.

the first gear of a 4l60 is 3.06 vs the 2.75 of the 80. You have better traction because you CANT spin the tires. the 4L60 will rock you out of the hole much faster.
its like saying a stock 4.8 silverado has better traciton than parish's truck

Treyz28's got a good point. a 4l65e would probably be a very good choice. That or you could always buy a brand new built 4l60 or 65 from Dr. evil or some such.
The one problem with the 4l60e is its drop from 1st to 2nd is far too wide a ratio. However if you get a stall that pretty much negates that problem.
