Default Engine rpm and shift points

Well I have been trying to get my shift points low enough so they do not hit the limiter but it pulls strong enough up there that it will hit the limiter even tho the limiter is 500rpm higher then the shift points. So how hight can you safely spin a 5.3 with stock bottom end? Also what are yall shifting at with a 220 cam? Mine seems like it wants to keep revving but I do not want it to come apart so the rev limiter is at 6500 now.

Nope no help but thanks. From what I have heard rpm will kill a motor faster then power will but just what I have heard. I am not sure how far you can push one rpm wise before things start to stretch or come loose.

If you have a loose torque converter, you may need more than a 500rpm split on your shift speed versus shift rpm.

Stock stall for now, but my tune is set to shift at 6100 and limiter at 6500 and it will bounce of the limiter. That sounds about right about the trans. Do I see lucky number 3 in my future. lol

Get a log that has gm.gear as one of the PIDs, and you will be able to tell when you are commanding the shift. If it is commanding well before it occurs then you likely need more line pressure.
