Default Engine build...........

In the early thought stages of an engine build for my 2006 ECSB. So far I've put together a 2004 or newer LQ4 with 68cc combustion chamber CNC'd heads to yield about 9.8:1 compression. Main question is looking at heads, I've found some pretty good deals out there but with either a broken ext manifold bolt of other broken studs- so how hard it is to remove broken studs from an aluminum head and, what would be the best way to go about that? I see extractor/ drill bit guide sets all over the internet; are these any good?
TIA

if you have a welder, weld a nut to it then back it out while its hot. Thats the most common way.

Hmm- I have a little MIG welder, suppose I could tack weld a bolt on there as ya say. I'm leery of affecting the surrounding head material........

Use a larger nut with a center big enough to weld inside of. It will be slightly off-center, but will keep the weld where you need it. A good tack should be all that's needed to turn it out. There are of course, several other ways to do it. Youtube has many vids on the subject. The fact that it's out of the car is very helpful.

Another big idea! So I get and LQ4 form the boneyard, don't know how long it's been sitting etc etc. So I'd like to yank the heads for a looksee at the cylinders and shove my favorite cam in there and put it all back together with some Cometic head gaskets that I understand crush to .030, also understand that the stock head gaskets are around .052- is that right? So the question is- would I need different length pushrods with this .022 difference?
TIA
