After looking at the TB good ... I don't think the ETB's have an actual IAC control. There is a hole there, but there is nothing blocking it. Does anyone know anymore abotu this than I do?

Did you drill the hole in the throttle plate to set the idle with your cam?

BigTex did you loose any throttle response or idle quality with your ported throttlebody? My 01 ported throttlebody lost a lot of throttle response and I've heard that the late model throttlebodies had issues with idle quality after being ported.

I have heard the same thing about the ETB, since I have one I have held back porting and polishing it, because I have heard that the ETB are acting up when p&p'ing them, especially when messing with that "tounge" thing on the bottom. Is this true? Also I have heard that the ETB opens up a true 90* unlike the older TB, is there any truth to this too?

Um yeah, I've got problems. Fortunately I have two TBs, but I'm determined to get the ported one running like stock. (its a cheap project, and keeps me from spending money on other items)

Basically, it revvs to 2500+ on startup, and will drive itself around town. At freeway speeds, its like permanent cruise control. In traffic, I have to ride the brake in order not to hit the cars in front of me. I have made lots of progress, and don't have the same issues now, but there are still some side effects that I'm working out. Perfect, no. Driveable, yes.

By cutting down that hard edge on the interior of the TB, it allows more air at idle and low throttle angles. Since it doesnt have IAC to compensate, its just getting more air than it was calibrated for. LS1 Edit is allowing me to tune it in, but with no instructions, its like working in the dark. Trial and error. Unfortunately, it takes time for the PCM to adjust to the tune. So one day its fine, then the next morning its a PITA again.

Man ... that thing looks good. I smoothed out the roughness in mine, but I didn't do any shape changing. I think it did pick up a little response, it's hard to tell though.

I think you could cut down the outer ring some, and maybe smoothe out the transition to that aluminum tongue feature, but leave its thickness up near the blade. Thats what got me into trouble, with the blade position at 10% to idle, it lets in much more air than before without that hump on the bottom. You could have ported that area a little instead of putting a hole in your blade.
