I've been thinking about getting some cut-outs. Not for sound or performance but because I have to submerge my exhaust when I am launching/recovering my boat and sometimes it's not a quick process.
Is it a big deal to have your exhaust under water for 3-4 mins? I know I can't turn the truck off...I was thinking a cut-out right after the cats might be better.

Not that big of a deal. Nothing really bad happens. If you get the mufflers submerged too much you'll collect water in them and depending on the type of muffler it might rust out faster than normal or take a longer than normal to evaporate out.

id be worried about submerging the cutout motor.

cutouts after a cat kind of defeats the purpose no?

Pretty much...you'll still be bypassing the muffler but have the restriction of the cats, so it would be good for something but not completely effective. My cutout is going to go shortly after the y-pipe as my cats are now just echo chambers If NJ didn't have visual inspections I would have liked to put cutouts in place of the cat's, but that wouldn't fly when they stick the mirror under my truck looking for the kitties. I'm sure that I've been dodging bullets with the LT's and aftermarket y-pipe as it is...

Wish that I knew someone local who could weld stainless for me...I have pretty much all the parts, just need to cut it up and weld it in, but funds won't even allow that right now

Kickass systems Chase

Not the greatest setup but it's what money allowed. I used the 3 inch section from my Flowmaster catback, welded in a Y and put the cheap Jegs cutout just after the crossmember flows into a Huge Magnaflow muffler and turned down right before the rear end.

The cutout leaks a little but I have a blank to slap over it when I go for inspection. Cheap but effective enough for me, I do wish I had the cash to do a trick exhaust like some of you guys are running.
