Default EGR Deleation

I have a 99 silverado 4.8, I want to deleate the EGR. I know you just remove it and block off the hole on the intake, but my question is do i need to turn the egr off in the pcm? I have a 02 pcm on the way tuned by TSP, but I did not tell them to turn off the egr. I know the newer years dont have the egr set up like the older, since im getting a 02 pcm will it already be shut off? thanks in advance

You shouldn't need it turned off on an 02 PCM...I did the same thing and didn't have to (99-02 PCM swap and deleted EGR). I actually unplugged the EGR first and drove that while for a few days to see if a code would trip, and it was OK. You will need to block off the holes in both the intake and exhaust manifolds though. I believe Thunder Racing sells both block off plates...I got my exhaust block off from them and the intake block off I ordered from the dealer.
