Default And the Edit saga continues

Took Edit over to my parents house to read my step fathers 2000 5.3. Well, same problems. I'll send a log file to Ken, but I need to know a few things from edit users.

1. How many of you use a serial to USB adapter?
2. What Brand?
3. Any problems encountered?

the one I am using is a Belkin. If that's not it, then the program itself must be corrupted. What I need to do is get one of you with it to try and read my PCM. Any takers that are local or semi local?

Bought and OLD computer specifically for EDIT with a real serial port.

No problems so far.

Maybe refund time.

i couldnt get my usb to work right and i tried the belkin unit along with a couple of others including the edge port that they recomended. still no luck.

now i have a pcmcia to serial card that works much better, i still have to fiddle with it sometimes when i swap between the wideband/efilive and edit but not too much.

good luck

I think the pc card thing is the better idea I think. It gives you an actul serial port. It's kinda like in the old days when you had to have an expansion card for a desktop computer.

I use a Belkin USB-Serial adapter on mine with no problems. Before the Belkin, I tried a few others that I couldn't get to work. I still can't believe Carputing hasn't come out with a USB cable since so many people have complained about this.
