Default ECM took the eternal dirt nap!

Hi all - new to the site and am wandering if any of have ever had their ecm just crap out on them.

i have the predator and last night (while in walmart parking lot) went to re-load a custom tune that I had previously ran and the tuner came back with some wild error that i had never seen. it then asked if i wanted to restore. after the restore i attempted to load a different tune, thinking the other was corrupted somehow, and the tuner came back saying there was no VIN attached. i then went to restore to the factory tune and the tuner just sat there for about 2 mins "communicating" then asked if the ignition was turned on.

Long story short I could not start the truck. would not even turn over. could not restore, tune, nothing. left the truck and drove by the dealer (next door) dropped the keys in the door slot and went home. the dealer called the next afternoon said the ecm was toast, would not take a reflash, and had to order another one. lucky it is still under warranty.

An acquaintance with an SS got a predator last christmas. The first attempt to use it resulted in an idle and startup problem. Attempts to return to factory tune were useless. He eventually sent his pcm to the predator manufacturer. They sent him back a working computer, but I don't know if it was his original pcm or not.

Ex-Predator here too. Nothing like a custom tune.
