E Fan to Clutch Fan
I have a 2006 Silverado Z71 that is the workhorse, I need to swap the E fans out for a clutch fan from a 03 Silverado SS (34" fan shroud) but what is needed in the PCM department? Can I just unplug and seal the wires or will that trip a fault code? Do I need a PCM reprogram? I have a Predator tune that allows for E fan temps to be changed. That only leave the PCM trigger for the A/C but the clutch fan will always be pulling air so I shouldn't need that either. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks

My reason is cooling or lack there of. I currently run very hot when towing or in deep mud, I'm sure 4.10s will help reduce the stress on the engine as well but I find a clutch driven fan to be more reliable. I'll be running a 10" fan on the front side as a pusher for the A/C and Trans cooler. The clutch fan seems to keep the trucks right at 200-202 degrees no matter the traffic, heat or load.
Edit: also Thunder, I believe with the 06 fans there is a 34" radiator which, according to your posts I believe I need a 03 SS fan shroud and clutch assembly. Is this true?

pusher means the fan is mounted between the a/c/radiator and the bumper. This will allow the electric fan to push some air over the a/c coils and keep the a/c cold, it will also pull air through the trans cooler. A prime example of this is mercedes benz, they often run a clutch driven fan (that disengages at high rpms) as well a second and sometimes 3rd fan that is electric and pushes air when the clutch isn't enough (mostly at idle). Your clutch driven fan is a puller (as well as anything else mounted behind the radiator).
