Default Dyno tune worth it on stock truck w/87oct?

Is it worth the money? The truck has a 5.3 and is completely stock. He will be adding mods later, as money permits but still wants to use 87oct after those as well.

Thanks

Why?
Do you realize that from an empty 26 gallon tank the $ difference between premium and 87 oct is only about $5.20 ???? When the tune w/premium will give better performance and (if you do your part) better milage, not to mention that premium fuels contain better additives???

Penny wise, dollar fuelish!

On my 2001, 5.3 (bolt-ons only) handhelds were good for 15-17 RWHP and my custom tune for 26 rwhp

A tune is always worth it IMHO. I have tuned my previous 1999 Sierra with a 5.3L on 87 octane. Now I am finishing up the tune on my "stock" 2002 1500HD with 87 octane as well. I will then tune it with 91 octane for more flexibility between the two.

Tell that to him, bro. He is a penny pincher through and through. Guess thats part of the reason he is worth so much at the age of 30, lol.

Those numbers on 87 oct, Oxi? If so, that is more gain than I thought possible.
