Default Dropping LQ9 shortblock into 4.8L '08 Sierra

Done the research.. know the the GENIV 4.8s don't come with VVT nor DOD so it should be a pretty straight forward swap. PCM tuning is not a problem, I'm just worried the 4l60E trans wouldn't last as long, but will be building that up as well...

If anyone here has done the swap or knows if it is possible, will the accessories from the GenIV 4.8L be bolt ons onto the LQ9? I will be using the heads of the 4.8L as they are 243s which seem to flow decent, might get a port polish once I take the engine out as well.

Please post up

It's been done many, many times. Do a search, you should find all your answers and more.

I've tried, gone through around 20pages and at least 50 posts... this is an '08 Sierra, not a GEN3 4.8L... is it as simple as the old Gen swaps? and can u confirm that? If so I'm putting a downpayment down tmrw on the block

Well, if this helps, a friend just bought an 07 Vortec Max with a 6.0. I didn't get a look at his engine code, but I believe its an LQ9, which means that it should fall right in. Worst case you might need new motor mounts, but i dont think so.

I can tell you that the GENIII's in the NBS trucks are a direct swap, but not sure if the NNBS's are a direct swap. If the engine is also from a newer truck, and has the same amount of teeth on the crankshaft reluctor, same cam sensor location, etc, I don't see why there would be a problem, but I'm not 100% sure.

Was the Vortec Max the 2007 classic? Im worried if it is, there still might be a problem with the install :/ I don't wanna spend any cash without knowing for sure

Oops, I didn't even catch the Gen4. I sort of glossed over the post and assumed it was another person who refused to try the search. Sorry. I'm sure I've seen someone who did it, or at least attempted something like it, but I don't recall who it was or where I saw it. Sorry I couldn't help.
