driveshaft clunk

i know this has been a big problem with alot of guys here. i did a search and some suggested greasing the yokes, which only worked for a week or 2. there was a service bulletin that came out in november of 2001. if my truck is out of warranty, do they still fix it for free if there is a TSB for my problem? i know it is a stupid question. but i am stupid sometimes. especially after drinking 2 nights in a row for st patty's day. <---- Guinness

Mike, If that service bulletin came out WHILE your truck was under warranty, I believe you are entitled to it free of charge. I had a '95 Jimmy with 100,000 miles on it that I took in for a recall that I knew nothing about... didn't cost me a dime.

service bulletins and recalls(gm calls them campaigns) are two seperate things. A recall is a usually a safety issue which dealers perform for free to avoid legal problems. Service Bulletins are information from Gm engineers to help dealership techs diagnose and repair problems. It depends on how far you are out of warranty. If you are a good customer the service manager can (goodwill) a repair and perform it at no charge.
If you have a ECSB, sounds like you need the nickle plated slip yoke.
