Ok guys, as many of you know, I am getting ready for a V6 to V8 swap.
How hard would it be to convert my 2005 V6 to DBW for the swap. To be honest with you, I haven't even looked to see if it is cable. I am pretty certin that it is. Would it be worth it to convert it, or should I just get a cable TB.
I also purchesed a fairly large cam (.639 lift intake) should I think about a 90MM TB or would a stock one work fine.

whats the duration on that cam? full specs??
if you are cable now, you need to stay cable. if you swap from one to the other you will need gas pedals and all linkage
oh btw, that cam is not fairly large its HUGE

I think the easiest thing to do would be to go with a cable if that is what the v6 is setup for. Otherwise you will have to get a new peddle and all the wiring to hook it up.
I can't answer about the intake, but damn what cam did you buy?

I think you will be fine with the stock TB. I don't think you really need the 90mm until you start getting into more cubes and better flowing heads.
On another note... What springs are you planning on running??
I think that is too much lift for the comp 918's so I think you are gonna need some dual springs to run that much lift.

The guy I bought it from said patriot gold should work fine. The motor that I am looking at has LQ9 springs in it. Not sure if thoes are enough. Also, will a stock LQ9 intake flow well on a 5.3?

The patriot gold's are dual springs and I think a lot of people use them. I would say no on the LQ9 springs being good for that much lift.
As far as the LQ9 intake. I am thinking all the truck intakes are all the same not including the SSR intake.

Sorry man, but buying that cam was stupid. You are going to get NOTHING more than problems running a cam with that high of a lift. You're gonna be on stock heads right? Even on stock 317s, they max out well before .600(around .560 to be more exact). So basically you're just gonna go through valve springs for no reason.
Now if you had some milled 317's worked to flow a bit better then that cam might be worth it.
Oh and the lq9 intake is the same as the 4.8L/5.3L intake.
Oh and you'll be fine with teh 78mm throttle body because your heads won't flow well enough to justify stepping up to a 90mm tb.
