you will lose compression. Stock heads are what, 59cc? These are 63cc, good for the LS1/6 crowd

If your looking into heads, I would look into a set of stock heads, have them reworked...

find you a 5.3 or a 6.0 and start slowing putting money into it then sell what you have and do the engine swap

Yes on the 5.3 and def on the 6.0. I know people say why does everbody say swap to the 6.0 off the bat. Well cause it works, is cheaper then dumping a **** load into the 4.8 only to get a low 13 high 12 out of it, without spraying the **** out of it.. 4.8 is a bad motor, loves to rev, just isn't its best suit in a 4k+ pound truck....

I would never do a 4.8 to 5.3 swap. Waste of money in my opinion. Having gone from the 4.8 to 6.0, it's a nice boost in power, but it's not huge by any means. After getting the 6.0 you'll think that this is what have should have come stock! You really can't beat the 6.0 swap. Get you a nice longblock (I made the mistake of buying a complete engine and wasting money) and swap everything from your current engine. The swap takes 1 day and is pretty simple. Once you have that 6.0, add headers and a TR224 cam and you're looking at an easy 375 rwhp/375 tq or more!

Here's the dyno of an LQ4 with longtubes, TR224 114, kn intake, efans, and underdrive pulley. 390 rwhp/380rwtq.
