I know, all suggestions are welcome

We all know any bad experience like this disappears the first time you hear the engine fire up and you drive it around. We have everything we need besides a few odds and ends.

It cleans up surprisingly well with some steel wool and bloody knuckles,

I couldnt feel any type of pitting or rust, smooth as glass.

Cool. Mostly staining. Put some cheap oil in there for start up and after it has had time to flush the rings clean then change it.
I have done the budget builds and the high dollar ones. They have all worked well. The internet has created all kinds of "experts". When it comes to doing something, if you don't buy the best parts there are and document it...it is a waste of time and junk. But most of these "experts" have never pulled a bearing cap in their life.
I'm not calling out anyone that has posted here but just my opinion of my general forum experience. I have known of one that wouldn't re-use any bolts from the factory and purchased the best you can buy of everything. Even the timing cover bolts etc.....

Thank you, this is the most logical post in the whole thread...

I'm hopefully gonna be getting a 216/220 comp cam from a guy on GMFS, so after I get that in and a couple odds and ends, it should be in soon.
