Default Do Z71 truck lose more through the drivetrain?

The reason I ask is because I had das truck dynoed and the rwtq was low only 258rwtq but the rwhp was 245rwhp.Does this Z71 lose more through the drivetrain than say a 2wd ext.cab?

yes....the transfer case draws power away as well
and since it is a Z71 it may have the heavier duty rear end (14 bolt SF......my '95 Z71 did)

i bet it draws quite abit more, on my truck the front drive shaft is always sping along with the front carier, it isn't really released until it gets to the front pasenger axle and at that point it is spining double speed since the drivers side wont be moving on the dyno.

Could the front shaft be removed to cut down on parasitic losses? Would you get computer error codes popping up?
Just a question...

i was going to take off my front driveshaft if i ever got to a dyno, i dont see why it would set a code.

The front axle, CV's, and driveshaft spin from the rotation of the front wheels. This is how you can get your push-button without having to get out and lock the front hubs like in the old days. As far as i know everything spins freely in the T-case seperatley from the rear end, otherwise you would think you could have a problem when you do a burnout. To free up the rotational mass of the front axle you could put manually locking hubs on the front, but you would have to lock them in before the 4x4 will work. With that the front CV's, axle, and driveshaft would not turn. Hope this helps!

my truck is set up a little diferently. there is some friction(not 100% disengauged) in the tcase wich keeps the front drive shaft moving all the time, it isn't the wheels that cause it to spin. then on the front pasenger axle there is a coupling that is disengauged when in 2wd. you can jack up the truck and move either front tire freely and the drive shaft wont move.

he was talking about dyno numbers and driveline loss and i am sure there is some significant loss spining the driveshaft and front diferential/spiders/ and part of the pasenger axle. with part of one axle moving and the other not moving that part that is moving would be moving at twice the speed, the spyders would be going twice the speed of the carier, all that churning around in there would have to eat up some hp.
