Man, that's rough...I wouldn't be surprised if it still had the original factory oil filter on it. As for the intake ports, looks like alot of carbon from a combination of normal operation and oil being sucked in through the PCV system. I doubt that your friend ever put a can of Techron or something like it in the gas tank.

FWIW, here's what it looked like under my driver's side valve cover around 40k-ish:

It's supposed to clean the intake ports and combustion chambers...it may not get all of it but I'm sure it helps if done correctly. I've done BG pressurized induction services and looked at the before and after results with a boroscope and it's gotten the combustion chambers and valves almost spotless. I'd imagine that the results from Seafoam would be pretty similar...maybe one of these days I can borrow the boroscope from work and check it out.

want to see what an engine looks like with 200,000km's and 1 oil change? (i'm sure it had to be only one, i was pulling solid sludge chunks out 2X2" in diameter from the valley from this engine)

lets say it came out to be rebuilt!

I was JUST thinking that. Pull up the carpet and check the interior for signs of flooding. I'd get the VIN checked out too for shop/insurrance claims
