Default Differences in plug wire length - any way to determine?

Okay.. I hear there are different coil pack mounts in the trucks. Some use ones similar to LS1's, others set the packs further up the valve covers and require longer plug wires.

Anyone have a way to figure out what you have?

Here's the dilema:

I had a '02 5.3 Avalanche. I ran the MSD 32829 wires - and they were quite long. They rubbed the steering shaft and AC condensor drip pan. I never measured them. MSD says the "wire length" is 12 inches. It doesn't sound like they include the boots in that measurement, but I can't be sure about that.

I've got the '04 SS here, and I've got 7 TV50's in it that are soon going in the trash. They are 98005's. They physically measure 12" in total length, with 7" of actual wire. They fit PERFECT (length wise).

Factory plug wires between the two vehicles are identical in length.

............ I'm looking to order a set of MSD wires from TSP when I put an order in for some other goodies. They list some 8" wires for f-bodies AND trucks, under one part number.

I'm quite certain they'll work, based on the factory plug wire lengh being the same between the trucks, and the poor fitment of the first batch of long MSD truck wires I got.

If the coils are round it uses the short wires, if they are square it uses the long ones. Hope that helps.

I have the 32829s and the same fitment issues you described. They are longer than the stock wires. I think the shorter wires would work with stock manifolds, not sure about headers.

maybe this will help out.
square coils----

round coils----

taylor camaro ls1 wires 10.4----

i wanted to do the relocation set up but they were backordered for a while. i ended up going with these wires so that they would not hit the headers.

Hey guys....I have an Vette and have completed a coil relocation up to where the fuel rail is. I need a spark plug wire that is approximately 10" length (not including the boots) and 90* boots. I can buy the Taylor Universal Cut to fit, but was just wondering if there were wires already this length with 90* that would fit on an LSx.
Thanks
