This one's been totally played out for years.
It's not worth descreening the MAF.
Go search it on Tech or the CorvetteForum.

LMAO

new maf descreening rule of thumb, unless you are making 450+HP don't do it. (won't help you any in that situation either, just guessing you can tune your maf tables by then)

i hav e mne descreened and ported and polished. i have no issues. for over 2 years and 80 K miles. so i guess im one of the lucky ones.

It's not a matter of throwing codes from descreening the MAF or having other problems. There's just no performance gain.

im tryin to buy a house and dnt have money so free mods are great i punched out my screen cut a hole in front of stock air box and removed the rubber mat that blocks out side air next to the radiator havnt had ne probs a very slight increse in mid rage power and about 1.5 mpg increase

Sounds like your airbox gave you those bumps in power.

The screen is not a restriction. Unless someone can show a cfm comparison, I'll never believe it's a restriction. Just an air direction device. So if you are getting gains from removing your screen and don't have issues, then your particular setup (more than likely your CAI) is causing the air to move a certain path through your MAF to net you a leaner tune. In a stock scenario, lean can be good.Can be, not necessarily is.

Maybe a .002 cfm restriction. LOL

which is true since our motors are rich from the factory so it does aid in leaning it out some.

and anything in the path of airflow is a restiction.
