I did it on my old LT1 caprice, same process for an 03 5.3? does it have and SIDE EFFECTS? or noteable hp increase?

they say not to do it because the purpose of it is to straighten out the air-flo.
however i did this mod to mine, and have had no prolblems, but i wish now that i didnt do it.

Don't do it. The screen is there to: a)straighten the flow b) protect the sensors suspended in the middle. The straightening of the flow helps the sensors measure more accurately, which is at least mildly important because it's an input that helps decide how much fuel to inject. Am I wrong here?

Anyway, most laboratory sized wind tunnels have flow straighteners at the inlet that are very similar (at least all those that I've seen).

Leave it alone. Save the time you would spend taking all that **** off and puting it back on........... Then stand there at the front of your truck with the hood up, beer in hand and imagine the screen isnt there. Much more worthwhile.

yea i think its smarter just to buy some bolt ons. IMO free mods dont really do much. thats just my two cents for ya
