Default Denali Upgrade.

Hey Guys!

On a scale from 1-10 how hard would it be to swap a 2500 HD Trans and Transfer Case into a Yukon Denali? I know this isn't something that is logical, but if it was it probably wouldn't be any fun am I right? I took inspiration from the Silverado that was featured in Hot Rod which was runnning the Vortec 6000 and a single turbo. Please give me any tips you may have and please dont tell me "Don't Waste your money"

Thanks Guys!

That good ole' blue Silverado? That would be parish, he roams these boards quite often, maybe he'll pop in. As for the swap, Iam not too sure how easy it would be, arent those AWD from the factory? "On a scale of 1-10" I would have to say it would prolly be about a 6, but with the factory AWD, I'm sure it might be a little tougher.

Yes, The Denali is all wheel drive. The truck is near the end of its life and I would like to perform a major overhaul on the truck. Im thinking of pulling the motor at 100k miles and having it blueprinted (and rehoned if needed), having the crank balanced, adding a new set of rods, diamond dished pistons (for turbo), having the heads ported and polished, new valvetrain. etc etc..... you get the point!!

Thanks Guys

I could be wrong but I think the Silverado SS guys were running into problems when trying to mate the 4L80E up the awd.. Parish has a good write up about his 4l80e swap into this truck..

i think the ss guys are are having problems mating the 80e to there transfer case. if you are going to use all of it then i think it might work with some fab up.i think parish's site will offer some insight into what you are going to do.

You may want to check on the Speed Engineering 4l80e swap. They sell all of the stuff us 4X4 truck guys need as a kit, and might be able to help you out with the SUV parts. They're a sponsor to LS1tech, and I think one of our truck members (Wilde Racing, maybe?) recently did their 4l80e swap, so maybe he can give you some feedback. Also,Transmission Center does some sort of a swap kit as well, but I don't know about their reputation, and I don't think they are a sponsor.
