Default Deleting egr with ls1 edit.

My friend just recieved his ASM header for his 00 Silverado. It turns out his headers came without the egr plate to connect his egr valve. Would there be any problems if he does not connect the egr and deletes it completely with ls1 edit? His main concern is passing state inspection and other issues that might arise from not having the egr valve connected eventhough it's deleted.
The headers on my truck came with the egr plate but I don't use it since I have an 02 without the egr valve. Would it just better to trade my passenger side header for his? Any suggestions or comments?

I would do away with it all together. Don't delete the codes though. You should switch them so it doesn't light the SES light instead of turning them off. This will let you pass the inspection by plugging the computer to the OBD2 port. I don't know how it would affect the sniffer though.

I am having this exact same dilemma. Just got my ASM's for my '01 and they did not come with EGR provisions. I am going to address the SES codes with a program, but I am still concerned with passing inspection in Texas. Can anyone who has done away with the EGR, that lives in Texas (or knows Tx law) fill us in on how difficult it may be to pass inspection?? Thanks

even if you haven't connected the EGR line to the header, but the EGR is still electrically connected, you should be fine.

Most of the larger counties...Tarrant, Dallas, Harris, etc. All have the OBDII only test for the '96+ cars/truck. No SES/CEL/MIL = passed inspection as long as the safety end checks out
