Default De-Screend MAF

Well awhile ago i descreened my MAF and at the time it just seemed like something to do i saw a couple of guys on here saying it helped. Now it seems like my truck dosen't run right well i mean it does but it dosen't feel the same and it idles funny sometimes. Ive cleaned my throttle body and the idle control valve could me taking the screen off might be causing this? I know that the screen helps straighten air flow maybe now that the screen is off its getting weird readings?

And if thats the reason why can i just got buy a screen name put it back in there or do i need to buy a new MAF i know of a salvage yard i can get one for about 75 bucks instead of a 200 dollar brand new one.

I'm not sure GM sells replacement screens for the MAF's (you're not supposed to screw with them), You're probably gonna have to buy a new (used) MAF to get a screen....as long as the part number is the same you'll be fine with a replacement MAF from a salvage yard (I bought one on ebay for $35)

dont the old z06's got descreened maf's from the factory? That could be another option, but you might need some tuning

It's still done because every time someone brings the damn thing up again there will be a bunch of people compelled to post how great this "mod" is. Personally, I think it's self-indulgent justification for an expensive mistake, and everyone like to feel better about themselves, right? lol

i dont htink its a bad thing to remove i think when ppl remove it they damage the wires inside it. i also did it on my s10 many years ago and never had any issues with it. also did it on a few other rides of buddies and never had an issue.

reason i did it long time ago is that i seen somewhere that some ppl claimed to see 1hp/1tq so i figure why not. never hurt anything and its been done for a long time
