Default Damian Ported TB

"Damien" is a sponser on LS1Tech. I came across his thread he is porting TB's for $55 shipped. Apparently it gains 5-10rwhp, but the biggest difference is in throttle response. He says that the trucks make better gains becuase there is a lot of "material" to take out on the truck TB. For $55 it's not a big deal to try it, no?

I ported my own. If you have the time and the tools, do it yourself. It's an easy project and instructions are readily available.

Did you see a noticeable difference?

Sounds like snake oil to me. How can porting a throttle body increase your airflow significantly enough to feel a difference?

I removed the link to his advertisement. Sponsors on Tech are not automatically sponsors here. I haven't been sold on ported TB's yet.

Yes, there was a noticeable difference. Not much, but then again it did not cost me anything but time. I probably would not buy one. I would spend my money on something more cost effective.
I did have to retune my truck because it raised the idle speed.

There are quite a few customers in that thread praising the ported TB with a "noticeable difference."

well on one hand it is human tendancy to praise which we just spent good money on. On the other hand it is entirely possible that a little relieving will net better flow and response. Buy one and report back!

There's also a separate post in the general section on Tech where someone reported a 6 rwhp gain on back to back dyno runs with a ported TB on an LS1.
