Default cutting the cats

i was wondering if cutting the cats off and replacing them with pipe would do anything for me? some poeple say it'll stink but i can deal with that, and will i have any trouble with the rear o2 sensors?

Yes it can be done, yes it will smell, yes it will cause a SES light to come on lol.. Best bet is to have it retuned, or search for my thread(long time ago) on plug defoulers... THEY WORK

i ran a 00 silverado 5.3 with no cats and now run hi-flow magnaflow cats. seems the same to me. but it was a helluva lot louder without the cats

Depends on what other mods and horsepower level I'd think. On a NA fairly stock setup you'd probably not notice much.

I don't see the point in chopping up the stock Y pipe myself. You'll hardly feel any gains, if at all and you'll no longer be able to pass emissions. I have the pacesetters and catless Y, but if I had money burning a hole in my pocket I would add some magnaflow center spun metallic cats.

To be honest, I might get high flow cats on my next set up and just run them, no muffs
