Cutout Placement opinions

a friend redid his and put the E-cutouts(2) right after the headers and then come down with a y pipe to one high flow cat and muffler and then out the back all with 3" pipe, It sounds great open being right at the header and he said it help, he is supercharge, I think I'm going to do the same

On your setup I wouldnt worry about doing it, your engine isnt consuming enough CFM to really be choked by your exhaust. If you were supercharged or something then it might be worth it but you are just going to be running a baby cam.

Thanks, actually that was the advice I was looking for. Honestly I really did not think it needed it but for ~$20 it was worth a shot asking...

alright alot of people are gonna bitch about this but here it goes

i run a VERY small Magnaflow muffler on my setup, full 3 inch with 2 4in tips side exit, basically little to no restriction, when i had the truck on the dyno recently i decided to test the theory that a cutout won't help a N/A truck

I picked up 9hp and 11ft/lbs with an unlocked converter with no change other than an open cutout and these were nearly back to back runs

I pickup 5hp and 13lb/ft with a locked converter and this was over the whole curve



Unlocked is the first and third
Locked is 2nd fourth

I can understand it helping on your truck, however my little stock 4.8 I doubt the gains would be worth the effort....

David you also got to remember you are running almost 80 more cubes with a large cam so your motor is consuming alot more air.

Besides, I think you'd loose more down low with the cutout open that you would gain up top.

what mufflers are u using? if theyre straight through a cutout isnt going to much

my truck didn't pick up anything really with the cutout open, only 2-3 hp on the dyno which might not even be because of the cutout. If i were you i wouldn't worry about it.
