Curious about towing with a supercharger.

George one thing I kind of fail to understand is how a turbo could handle long boosted runs any better than a procharger? I would think if anything the turbo would be victim to heat far worse seeing as EGT increases will directly effect the temp of the turbo itself. Do you think a turbo would have been happier with the same level of heat? I just dont see how its possible... the cold side of a turbo is so similar.

Easy to answer if turbo wasnt meant to tow then no diesels would use turbos
A procharger is self contained oil
..once hot how will it cool?
A turbo oil is supplied by motor and most work setups using a turbo have oil coolers..so youre constantly running a cooler oil thru it
My procharger showed signs of heat
As for EGTs diesel vs gas...setup correctly with right tune and egts shouldnt be a concern
Ill have data coming up how my snail holds up

Every diesel thats hopped up has egt issues even unloaded
This is why those boxes say dont tow past level 2....have you been around majority of the ford made power strokes? Explain how just about every ford needs rebuilt in stock form from towing?
Hook a egt gauge up to a turbo gas and watch how much you can swing egts with tune
Most gas jobs use too small of turbine for towing loads

The oil cooling makes sense to me. Good point.
They are still fighting an up hill battle being exhaust driven. The hot side literally collects heat and transfers it to the compressor. Turbo's run hot, plain and simple. Some of the IAT's I've seen from you turbo boys who are stuck in traffic is almost horrifying.

IAT at idle in traffic is hot with a blower...iats from turbo cant be high from not spinning compressor
Now with a metal intake youll have heat soak...cocaine for example heat soaks with IAT in intake by firewall
Example project blue lightning....turbo output for IAT was 250* IAT2 which is in intake is 100* after a full 1320 pull
So motor isnt seeing high iat like a PD blower
Same truck would see 198-220* with ice on a 1320 pass
Yes a turbo gets hot but still best route for towing otherwise factory vehicles would have PD blowers to tow
Id love to see a PD blower tow for 6hrs and 9000lbs
Open it up and see how bad the tolerances of case became
Wait i did see a PD blower that was used for towing...blower was in desperate need of rebuild...this was from towing a camper
