Default Crankshaft Question

The last couple threads I posted up nobody has replied, but hopefully this thread will be different. This is my situation:

I ended up spinning a rod bearing on #3 cylinder. The cause of this was also the cause of my lifters making noise. The bolt holding the oil pickup line to the oil pump was missing, and the pump was basically sucking up air whenever I ripped on the truck.

I have yet to go look at the parts, I'm going tomorrow, but the engine builder told me everything can be re-used except for the crank. It has a Scat crank in it, so if it can be refurbished I'd really like to do that. Is there anything I should look for in particular to determine whether or not I should try to have this crank fixed, besides the marring that the bearing would have caused on the journals?

I know stock cranks can handle a good bit of power, but since everything else is forged, and I only wanna spend the money once, I'd like to keep a forged crank. Anyone else spin a bearing and re-use their cranks? Any input would be much appreciated

i dont see why the bearing area couldnt be machine down for a different size bearing.
Unless its to far gone on the bearing area, just depends any local machine shop could do this and tell you if its useable.
Long as nothing has hit any of the counter weights on the crank it should be fine and would not need to be rebalanced.

Your engine builder doesnt have a machine shop that does his machine work?

the machine shop IS the engine builder...same guy does it all

I don't trust anyone these days, only my mom, lol, so I don't want him telling me the crank is trashed, when really it's not, for his own benefit

take it to another shop for a second opinion or send it back to the maker of the crank for inspection
You cant really look at it and say its junk needs to be replaced

I'll just take it to another machine shop for a 2nd look. This truck is my DD so sending the crank bank to Scat would take a while, and leave me without a vehicle
