Default crankshaft differences

what exactly is the difference between the early LS1 motors and the Later ones? I've heard there's a difference on the rear mounting flange, Is this true and what years are affected.

Yes, I read somewhere that the 6.0/5.3 crank flange surface were about 0.200" thicker. This was only an issue on the 99 to early 00 parts. Not sure how to check this?
