Default Cracked Frame

Alright. My frame is cracked on the driver side above the rear axle. I had a flip kit on it with Toxic shocks, but no c-notch. The frame is split on the bottom wide enough to stick your thumb through and has a crack big enough for daylight to pass through about 3/4 the way up the frame rail.

Any ideas on what to do? I'm still under warranty, but truthfully I want some money or a c-notch out of the deal.

If my frame breaks will I get a new truck or will insurance total it?

Thanks,
Josh Hucks

i would take the flip kit and all that off, and then take it in to a dealership. they will probably try to fix it(would take forever, be very expensive) but the insurance would probably total it and give you **** for payoff...insurance companies are GHAY

something as serious as a broken frame could get you a new truck if you really pushed for it. i would pull off the drop just so they dont try and make it your fault. as far as i know frames dont just crack and if there is a problem with that spot on your frame who is to say the entire thing isn't messed up. and you sure dont want a new frame, what kind of mess would that be if they took your whole truck apart and then put it back together again. i am sure they will want to "FIX" it.

On these new trucks, they are designed so you can replace certain sections of the rear part of the frame. They may want to try to do that, but since yours is above the axle it might be to far forward for them to try to fix.

Good luck with whatever happens.

Flip kit puts the axle above the springs, thereby lowering it 6 inches.

I took the flip kit off of it (left short bumpstops on), but left my front lower control arms on, think that will get me by? SHould I put the factory bumpstops back on?

Also, can I leave my programmer, TB spacer, headers, etc on? Or should I yank them to?

This sucks so bad. I'm already out of two days work (today and tomorrow) and was planning on going to the dragstrip tomorrow night.

When you guys say "fix it" do you think they will just try to weld it up?

Thanks,

i sure wouldn't let them weld it up, they might try to pull that on you. the only fix that i would be happy with is replacing that section of frame if it is removable but if it is a complete piece front to back i would want a whole new truck.

Alright. Well should I take any more of my stuff off or just see what they will do. I don't really want an 03 unless it has a 5.3.

I really would love for the insurance company to total it and let me buy it back. Then, she will be a bad ****!

Thanks,

Your only hope for the factory to pay for it is to put your truck 100% back to stock, even the wheels if you have to borrow a set,i doubt your Ins. will want anything to do with it, they will try and put it back on to the factory.Try doing some research to see if you are the only one with this failure.
