Smile Could use some advice. bump the 4.8L or dump it.

Hello I have a 07 classic 4.8l silverado and I'm completely lost when it comes to specifics, I can turn a wrench but need direction.
I was thinking about doing a head, intake manifold, TB, cam, exhaust, upgrade and I am clueless what motor it is, (due to it being a 4.8 and I'm new to this)
Is the 4.8 compatible, what are the pros and cons?
Or should I even do all that or just swap to a 6.0 and do all the mods while I have the motor out etc.
build internals and do boost?
I'm not sure what direction I should go but I know I wana go fast.
Any advice is appreciated thanks!

Id save the $ and trouble and go with the 6.0L unless you plan on boosting the 4.8L.

I like the 4.8!

For cars and lightweight buggies with a rev happy cam

I agree with the above, or put a roots on the 4.8

Don't bother with the internals on an 07 4.8. I'd go straight to boost with a suitable cam. However, keep in mind that you'll also need to upgrade the trans... and fuel system. It adds up quickly for a reliable setup. The 4L60 won't take much abuse, but if you are going to mess around with either trans, make sure to drop it into 3rd.

So I'm now debating boosting it with 8-9lbs of boost. I found a surprisingly cheap kit from these guys, https://www.on3performance.com/shop/...-turbo-system/ It mentions it is compatible with the 4.8, I see that I will need to upgrade the fuel system. And trans as BudRacing mentioned, But shouldnt a motor at 160k miles get a top end refresh when putting boost to it? and also what else should I do to keep it a happy motor taking 8lbs. I got this truck at 140k and changed the oil every 3k miles, very clean motor. was highway miles before me.

Edit:

Originally I was going to lift the truck 6" +3" body lift, put 37" tires and 22" wheels but after adding it all up I realized there are two roads I can take at this point, Eat *** and go fast or ride high and slow as hell!

I'm liking the boost idea the most and so far it's actually cheaper than what I was originally going to do.

On 3 turbo kit with fuel system upgrades etc : $2,898
New trans that can handle the new abuse : $2,200 - $3,000
Waiting on recommendations for what else I should invest in to make this build more reliable.

You'd be better off going with a different turbo kit, they On3 kits can work but have a few flaws that make them more of a hassle to deal with. More money up front for a better fitting kit makes your life easier.

If the engine is healthy you really do not have to touch a thing if you aren't opening it up. If you add a camshaft then stronger valve springs is a good idea or if you plan to run a alot of boost the stronger valve springs on a stock setup wouldn't be a bad idea.

Turbo kit, 60lb/hr injectors, 340-450lph fuel pump, 2 or 3 bar MAP sensor, custom tuning and that's kinda all you need to run 8-12psi.

KB Racing and Trick Turbo are two other good kit options. I like Trick's cast manifold.
